The Mazi Archaeological Project is a regional survey of the Mazi Plain, a small agricultural valley located in the mountains that divide Attica and Boeotia. Fieldwork was carried out between 2014 and 2017 as a synergasia between the Ephorate of West Attica, Piraeus, and Islands and the Swiss School of Archaeology in Greece. In this talk the project’s co-directors present the results of this research in terms of its contributions to the archaeology of west Attica, the methodological innovations of the project, and the long-term history of this landscape that is both a crossroads and boundary between two of the most historically significant regions of Greece.
