Dr. Curtis Runnels is Professor of Archaeology and Chair of the Archaeology Department at Boston University, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
An Aegean prehistorian, he has conducted research on the prehistory of Greece and its neighbors since 1973 as an Associate Member of the American School of Classical Studies at Athens.
At present he specializes in the study of the Palaeolithic and Mesolithic and has conducted research on these periods on the island of Crete since 2008.
An antiquarian book collector and student of the history of archaeology, he has written about the work of George Finlay, Charles Wesley Bradley, Harold North Fowler, and Heinrich Schliemann.
In 2002, he published The Archaeology of Heinrich Schliemann: An Annotated Bibliographic Handlist (2nd edition published by the Archaeological Institute of America, Boston, in 2007, and published separately as an ebook by Virgo Books in 2013).
