The Atlantic Council, together with the U.S. Embassy to Greece and diaNEOsis Research and Policy Institute, is delighted to invite you to #DisinfoWeek Europe, a week-long series of strategic dialogues focused on the global challenge of disinformation. To kick off the week, a public event will take place in Athens on March 4, 2019 from 18:30 to 20:30.
As state and non-state actors seek to influence Western democracies through targeted disinformation campaigns across multiple media environments, policymakers in Europe, the United States, and around the world recognize the critical threat to international security. To buttress governmental efforts, civil society groups, investigative journalists, think tanks, and tech platforms are also developing tools and tactics for countering and exposing disinformation narratives. In an effort to advance the transatlantic partnership on countering disinformation, the Atlantic Council and its partners will bring these groups together for a dialogue on how various sectors can approach the issue.
The series will begin with discussions in Athens and Madrid, followed by a capstone conference in Brussels that will convene media and technology companies, political leaders, activists, and researchers across Europe and the United States to discuss opportunities for collaboration and strategies to build a transatlantic response to disinformation. Please register here to attend and feel free to reach out to disinfoweek@atlanticcouncil.org with any questions.
