For the seventh year in a row, the think tank Kyklos Ideon (Circle of Ideas) is organizing, in cooperation with Delphi Economic Forum, its annual conference, part of the series of conferences titled “Ellada Meta” (Greece Meta). The conference “Ellada Meta VII” (Greece Meta VII) will be held on November 5-7, 2023, at Hotel Grande Bretagne in Athens, under the general title: Asymmetries and National Agenda
Asymmetries occur at all levels —global, regional and national—and in all aspects of life, from the living conditions on the planet and technology to the existential/strategic questions the West as a whole and Europe in particular are called upon to respond to, and from the stance of Greek society towards the political system to the regressive and persistent call for modernization that has permeated the history of the modern Greek state for two hundred and two years.
The topics of this year’s conference include, among others: asymmetries of the Greek political system that affect the quality of democracy; major and urgent challenges of modernization (from a health system that goes beyond familiar stereotypes to the need to “liberate” universities); the need to understand the non-obvious and, to a great extent, asymmetric aspects of the Greek economy and their connection with the expectations and resilience of society; the challenges posed by the climate crisis, with emphasis on the energy sector, the redesign of infrastructure and the preservation of the Greek tourist product; the emergence of civil protection as a touchstone not only for the state’s credibility but also for its internal sovereignty; the great challenges of foreign policy under conditions of high uncertainty and asymmetry at international and regional level.
